Are you a foodie? I know I am. A vegan, gluten-free foodie at that.
I am going to share with you my 5 must have foods to have in your house at all times. You will always find these 5 foods in my kitchen. Can anyone guess what they are??? No, not ice cream, not chocolate. Guess again.
I’m sure there’s more, like bananas. Bananas are also a fruit that I always have in my kitchen but were only going to focus on the 5 foods I listed above.
Chocolate soy milk is my favourite milk to drink. I sometimes drink it with my breakfast, I always have a glass of it as a snack but its main purpose for me is that I mix my protein powder in it after my runs. It makes an awesome recovery drink.

OATS. They are the MUST have in your pantry. You can make so many things with them. Oatmeal, energy bites, cookies & the list keeps going. Some oats may contain traces of gluten so I have the solution for you. Bob’s Red Mill are the ones to buy. This company is a life saver for all my celiac friends.

Lets talk peanut butter. OMG, I could probably put it on everything. Well maybe not everything but almost everything. It’s so good on toast, in my oatmeal, in all kinds of baking recipes & whatever else you can think of. It’s a must have in my pantry. I don’t tend to buy the Kraft one but if it’s all I have, I’ll use it but my go-to is the one from my local health food store. If you can find one without all the extra oil in it, no worries.
- contains fiber
- contains protein
- contains plenty of antioxidants
- can reduce the rink of having diabetes & heart disease
“Beans, beans, the magical fruit the more you eat, the more you toot”
I just had to put a part of this song in. It’s too cute not too. Farting isn’t fun, its kind of embarrassing but beans are so good for you. You shouldn’t stop eating them because it gives you a little more gas than usual.

- contains several vital nutrients
- high in antioxidants
- better heart health
- reduces risk of cancer
- can prevent diabetes
- preventing a fatty liver

Last but not least, lets talk rice. Rice is the perfect side to any meal. Basmati is my absolute favourite but I do like all different kinds. It’s so versatile, you can make a curry or even pair it with tofu & veggies. It makes for a great starch.
- good heart health
- aids digestion
- perfect for gluten-free diets
- gives you energy
- lowers cholesterol
- anti-inflammatory properties

I hope you go out and try one of these 5 foods, if you haven’t already. Maybe some of these are your staple foods also.
